I was once a VERY tired mom. I had a 5 month old baby that was waking up every 1 to 2 hours at night to nurse. It was absolutely frustrating, I felt depressed and hopeless. Unlike other moms I thought I had been lucky at first, my baby was a newborn and pretty much sleeping through the night. I would dreamfeed her before I went to bed and after that sometimes she would wake up 1 time to nurse after that. I on the other hand, was waking up making sure she was still breathing. I was in awe of how lucky we were, my husband and I would joke that our baby was a “trap” for us to have another one. Then the 4 1/2 month developmental milestone hit, followed with a trip overseas to visit family, and my sleep was never the same. She went from sometimes waking up one time a night, to constantly waking up. My baby never took a bottle no matter how hard I tried, so my husband could not help me with feeding her at night. The first few weeks, my husband would help, but he would always end up bringing me the baby. After a few weeks of thinking there was nothing for him to do at night, I continued to get up every 1-2 hours.
I was exhausted, and depressed, and stuck in this horrible sleepless cycle that seemed to have no end. I loved my baby but I could not longer continue to nurse her through the night.
Then one day I was on the phone with my sister, and she reminded me of a book we both read when we were pregnant. She told me “you know there are people who help teach babies to sleep (…)”. As soon as I hung up the phone I was off googling what I hopped would be the solution to my sleepless nights. That’s when I discovered Kim West (a.k.a The Sleep Lady) and her Gentle Sleep Coaching Program. Through the GSC program I found a Gentle Sleep Coach in my area, and the rest is history.
I now have a baby who sleeps through the night. Thanks to my experience with Kim West’s Gentle Sleep Program, I decided to embark on the journey of becoming a Gentle Sleep Coach and help other families get some much needed sleep.
